General

Q: I have a question regarding X, or Y, what do I do?

A: You list it here and we answer it! Or (if you think it will not be interesting to wide public) you send mail to Roostam.

Q: How do I edit the site?

A: (assuming you're invited...) You open an account (register link on the upper-right corner), make the login = your name (so we can identify the account) and we approve it ASAP; then you use this account to login and edit the wiki (site).

Q: To present, what should I bring except the presentation on Disc on Key ? Is there computer, projector for presentations ?

A: Sure, all the audio-visual equipment is there in case you need it (may be you don't? :)

Q: Roostam, what is Your email ?

Contributions

Q: Which contribution can I make?

A: There are several ways to contribute:

1) Cortexstorming - present an idea

2) Appedixstorming - participate in an existing activity or suggest your own

3) Userbreesing - host or participate in an activity (requires grabbing a slot on the schedule)

4) Diversion - contribute a feature to one of the rooms (e.g. bring and put a game to game room or host a workshop in a rereation room)

5) Other - host any other activity in the spirit of the camp

Q: What is the difference between all the activities?

A: Cortexstorming is light, short (~7 min per idea) associative brainstorming on ideas, its purpose is to inspire and it turns to most of the participants. Appendixstorming is an other (non-cortexstorming) activity that aimed at stimulating generation and sharing of ideas. Userbreezing is a coomon-type activity - discussion, workshop, etc - more prolonged, its purpose is defined by the host and it usually turns to smaller group of participants. Diversion are non-stop activities designed to divert participants from active brain employment and recharge it for the main activities. Other activities - anything not falling in on of the above definitions.

Q: How do I contribute?

A: You 1) plan it; 2) decide where it belongs - cortex/appendix, etc; 3) list it on the appropriate page on the site; 4) if it's a userbreezing - grab a slot on schedule page; 5) bring it to the camp and find the room and time to execute it :)

Cortexstorming

Q: What's cortexstorming?

A: Cortexstorming is a short and fun version of brainstorming and it's the main activity in EureKamp. Think of it as an associative, no-strings-attached version of the first 5 minutes of a usual brainstorming, where people just throw the first things that come the mind, without the need to develop and defend them, before they get stuck or start to work hard on what to do next with these things.

Q: What's the purpose?

A: None, as usual … The purpose is to learn, mutually inspire and have fun. No judgment, no targeted discussion, no strings-attached, just inspiration. The presenter will inspire the public by revealing the idea and the public will inspire the presenter and itself with the reaction.

Q: Why should I share my idea with all?

A: In case you have a well-defined i dea you're going to commercialize, may be you shouldn't (though still may be very inspiring ...).

However, we believe that:

- Most creative people have many ideas, much more than they will ever try to commercialize.
- Most ideas are missing some "thing" and quite often this "missing thing" is inspired by fresh, unexpected or "out-of-the-field" look
- Based on these things, we believe that such kind of interaction has a great potential to inspire.

Q: What's the difference between this cort…whatever and the other things appendix..., ...breezing, etc?

A: Cortexstorming is light, short, its purpose is to inspire and it turns to most of the participants. Userbreezingis more prolonged, focused, its purpose is defined by the host and it turns to smaller group of participants that chose to attend it.

Q: How it will be conducted?

A: Each session will have several ideas. A participant will present the idea briefly and clearly (1-3 min) and then (3-6 min) the public will throw related things to the air. Feedback, further developments, possible problems, similar known things, keys to success/fail, etc. Each session will have a conductor that will make sure the interaction stays directed and positive.

Q: What to present?

A: Ideas. Open questions, e.g. "What will happen with mobile phones?" does not suite cortexstorming, they fit more ug-activity. You should come with an idea, e.g. "Mobile phone of the future should have ABC, since XYZ".

Q: Which ideas to present?

A: No rules. It may be the next Internet killer app, or a digital improvement to a known kid's game, or a long-awaited revolutionary tool to eat sushi that replaces those beloved Chinese sticks. The only requirement for an idea is to be creative, innovative and inspiring. If square wheel inspires you – go for it!

Q: How to present?

A: Briefly and the way you want. You have to make sure the people get your idea (the essence) fully and quickly without falling asleep. You will be able to (but not have to) use a PowerPoint presentation, media, white board, pyrotechnics, etc.

Q: What should I do while the public reacts?

A: What you think is relevant. Listen, reply, ask questions, take notes, think of the dishes you left unwashed, whatever you think fits!

Q: W hat else?

A: We plan to film the cortexstorming and make the recording available to participants. In case you want us not to film it, please specify that at the beginning of your appearance and we will respect it.
